Here it is...
Published on February 24, 2025Considering that a Raspberry Pi is much cheaper than a regular server or computer it has become the ideal platform for hosting gideoneskue.us.
Another major benefit is the power efficiency that the Pi has using up to 5W at full load. (the actual usage could be higher but is limited by the AC to DC adapter using 5V 1A). Simply being able to chuck a simple and compact Raspberry Pi anywhere within wifi range is very convenient. That's the hardware side of things the software gave more trouble intrely because the hardware was literally one cable and the Pi.
I used Nginx as the web server as it is very lightweight then I used Cloudflare’s SSL/TLS services which reduced the need to manage SSL certificates directly on the Raspberry Pi. Setting up from there was pretty simple, just tedious DDNS was the hardest and even then it was fairly simple.
The next problem was a little harder setting up Font Awesome and Bootstrap CSS as I could not get them to work initially and had to figure out how to host them locally. This wasn't too hard once I fingered out that I needed to do it locally.
Then some HTML later and badda bing badda boom website done. It's far from being done but it has the bare minimum as well as a blog now so that's cool.
Working on a way to handle comments some other time.
Until then have a good day bye! đź‘‹
